Natural Relief for Menstrual Cramps

I found this study the other day that may help a teenage girl in your life:

Aromatherapy massage with essential oils including clary sage, marjoram, cinnamon, ginger, and geranium oil have been found to reduce menstrual cramps in high school girls significantly better than acetominophen (Tylenol).  Read here

Think of that…instead of adding to the body’s toxic load by taking over-the-counter pain relievers, natural health enhancing essential oils coupled with a relaxing massage can ease the pain and discomfort of “that time of the month”!

Other oils that may be used to relieve menstrual cramps:

Lavender, clary sage, geranium, peppermint, marjoram, basil, jasmine, valerian, rosemary, sage, Roman chamomile, cypress, vetiver

Here’s how some women have used essential oils to relieve menstrual discomfort:

I have found a wonderful use for clary sage.  Instead of feeling uncomfortable with low back ache and cramps from menstrual cycle, I now apply 5 to 10 drops once a month to my lower abdomen and back.  Within 1 to 3 minutes I have no more discomfort.  Sure is great not to have to feel achy.  Try it, you’ll like it!  D. Hoadley

I simply apply 3 drops of lavender oil to my palm, rub palms together and then massage into my skin over my ovaries.  I do this twice.

Next, I apply 3 drops to palm again as I did the first time, rub palms together and massage into my lower back.  I also do this twice.  Lastly, I apply drops (same as above) to the inside of the arch of my foot, vitaflex points for female reproductive organs and within 10 minutes, I notice a major decrease in the intensity of the cramping.  Within 30 minutes, I don’t even notice the cramping.  I do this about every four hours or as needed.  It really does help!  K. Goldvarg

I was experiencing monthly cramps and rubbed lavender on my aching tummy and a few mements later it was like…what cramps?!  A. Downey

I use Dragon Time blend for menstrual cramps.  Using one drop essential oil to one drop V6, applied to lower back and abdomen really helps with relieving cramps and bloating.  Diffusing for 20 to 30 minutes is another method I use for milder cramps and irritations.

Dragon Time has also helped with the emotional strains and headaches I sometimes experience during a menstrual cycle.  I consider this oil a valuable addition to my ‘fragrant pharmacy’ and use it regularly.  It’s fragrance is calming, relaxing and uplifts the mood.  M. Brown

Dragon Time is a must for me during PMS.  I will literally wake up in the middle of the night with cramps and run a warm bath with V-6 mixing oil and Dragon Time oil.  The cramps will be smoother and more endurable upon getting out of the bath.  I will sleep like a rock after the bath and awake feeling refreshed.  When I am out of Dragon Time I use clary sage or clary sage with lavender.  All have great results with bad menstrual cramps.  A. Majors

Since I was 12 years old, I have always had a horrible time during that time of the month.  I would get cramps and back aches that would be so bad I’d stay home from school, and I never missed school for anything.

My periods are still just as bad, so I took the Dragon Time Massage Oil and rubbed a little on my lower abdomen and some on my lower back.  Within minutes my cramps were gone and so was my bach ache.  Now when my period is at’s peak and is really bad, sometimes I need to reapply it every couple of hours, but for the relief it gives me I’ll do that.  I actually just carry it with me in my purse…that way I have it when I need it.   S. Bullard

I received my first bottle of PanAway last month and just in the nick of time!  I was experiencing bad menstrual cramps and pain in my lower back.  I applied a few drops of PanAway to my back and by the time I had straightened my clothes and started to lay down again, the pain was gone!  I have never in life had anything work so well or so quickly.  PanAway is a Godsend and a must for every household.  D. White

I used basil and lavender for period pain.  Used it as a compress once for a girlfriend with fantastic results.  She was on the floor in pain so put diluted basil and lavender directly onto her skin over the ovaries then put a compress on top.  Almost instant relief.  J.  Abbott

I have suffered with severe Dysmenorrhea (painful periods) since I was 12 years old.  I tried many different medications which sometimes would not even touch the pain.

The EODR suggested EndoFlex which I happen to have but never thought of using, thinking that my pain was too severe for anything but Pamprin or muscle relaxers.  In desperation I rubbed the Endoflex on my feet and began to work my vitaflex points for spine, colon, and uterus.  Within 5 minutes, my pain had gone from a 9 to a 4.  I then took 4 drops in a gelcap internally.  In another hour my pain went down to a 2.  Amazing!  This just goes to show that you can never underestimate the power of these oils!  T. Suhm

About 3 years ago, I started having very painful menstrual cramps.  Since the release of Progessence Plus, I have had no more issues with cramps so long as I use it.  I apply 3-4 drops to start and increase until they go away.  Normally takes about 5 minutes.  My husband is very pleased!  So am I!  M. Dill
I had terrible cramping last Sunday from my monthly cycle.  I could barely get off the couch!  I decided to try lavender oil on my abdomen.  Within 10 minutes, the cramping and bloating was gone…and it never came back.  I was amazed! C. Lawburgh

About Endoflex:  I have great results in treating clients with hormonal imbalances with this oil from Young Living.  It addresses problems such as menopaust to PMS related symptoms.  Used a few drops of this amazing oil in a lotion and applied to the abdomen twice a day.  Lifts the general mood and brings the body back into balance…wonderful.  D. Gibson

I have been sharing peppermint oil with women complaining of menstrual cramps.  I tell them to rub a drop or two of peppermint oil on their lower abdomen and within 5 minutes their cramps are completely gone.  I just love sharing and recommending these wonderful oils!   L. Borino
